Younis Khan Hailed World XI Tour to pakistan
Younus expressed these views while talking exclusively to The Sports Reporter Tv on Monday, he further said, no one can say that the touring World XI players were retired or unknown players, they were by all means super stars, well-known figures and playing top class cricket for their respective countries, I must say that Pakistanis must be thankful to each and every player, who represented World XI, as it was not about earning big money or playing normal cricket, it was about the respect and sheer love for Pakistan cricket, which persuaded them to visit Pakistan. He further said, one thing is crystal clear, they was Pakistani security agencies provided them with safe and secure environment and the way they were given tremendous welcome, each and every player, official involved with the World XI or with Pakistan team, would never ever forget that hospitality and I can assure all, that Pakistanis are highly peace-loving nation and we know how to pay back when it comes to our turn, we had in the past too, helped countries and toured hen nobody was ready to take even small risks, we toured Sri Lanka, when they were on dire strides, as professional cricketers, I know we must ensure safety first, but the way PCB chairman himself received each and every visiting player, official is more than enough to show our commitment and how seriously we regarded touring players. Younu further said, it was not about losing or winning, it was cricket and fans of cricket, who won and who prevailed at the end, Pakistani fans were long suffering and waiting for international cricket to make return to this part of the world, the way, masses from all ages turn up towards stadium, they way they supported World XI more than home team, is more than enough evidence that Pakistanis are true professional and sports lovers and they enjoy cricket without being biased, I can easily claim that I had witnessed more World XI support then home team, people wanted World XI to win rather than home team, which is never witnessed in the history of any sports, every host nation enjoy overwhelming home support and fans are always behind their team, but situation in Lahore was totally different, the way PCB staff, security agencies and government supported and play their role is amazing, this World XI tour is benchmark and I am damn sure now ICC would seriously take Pakistan case and in near future more international teams will tour Pakistan, we had proved the world that our armed forces are more than capable of not only defending the borders of the country, but also provide foolproof security, Lahore was presenting bride like look the city never sleep and I can feel everybody was just thinking about reaching the stadium, the way arrangements were made to provide trouble-free transport at different points is also laudable and the presence of some of the high-profile personalities from ICC and tp government and also DG ISPR was very much present also shows how much we take this support seriously, it is a bidding force which glued the entire nation and now is the right and perfect time international teams and players must feel safe and sound to tour Pakistan, I can feel that Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches taking place not only in Lahore but also in Karachi and other major cities, while I am sure Sri Lanka is visiting next and playing few matches, its great and Najam Sethi is slowly but gradually fulfilling promise he had made. He highly lauded PCB for according well deserving welcome to legends Misbah and Shahid Afridi and termed they had done wonders for Pakistan and cricket and I am very happy for both of them it was a good example set by PCB, When asked about his long-awaited welcome, Younus termed when his time arrive, he will get the same treatment, I had always put country ahead of personal glories and my task was always to ensure Pakistan win matches and I perform to the best of my abilities, PCB Chairman Najam Sethi and I had conversations and the relation is based on mutual respect, I always wanted Pakistan cricket to move forward and some day in near future I would be more than happy to contribute and I don’t need specific role or posts to help Pakistan and cricket, Younus concluded.
