BEIJING (CHINA) – Pakistani Youth delegation visited Beijing biggest Sports University on Wednesday afternoon. Pakistani 100-member delegation was divided into three groups, Group-2 was consisted of athletes from Pakistan, who had won laurels at international stage, Beijing University head of department welcome Pakistani delegation and take them to different sporting facilities, which include, wushu, table tennis, athletics, gymnastic, basketball, volleyball and handball, while Pakistani delegation was also shown the latest indoor stadium, where Chinese national team players train for upcoming events. Pakistani delegation was given wushu lessons by Chinese top international coach Tiger, he gave first 20 minutes verbal lesson to all the delegates and then around 20 male and female group members, which include national taekwando player, Sibtain Hussain, international karate player Shahida, who won three bronze medals in South Asian Games and won silver medal in national championship and international taekwando player from Balochistan Tahir Ali was also given demonstration for more than 30 minutes, each and every member of the delegation thoroughly enjoyed the lessons and physical demonstration, Tiger than informed about the significance of learning wushu and how it can be used for self-defence, he also invited Pakistani wushu players to come to China and get free training. Then the youth delegation was also taken to table tennis hall, where kids from as early as 7 years to 80 years old male and female were practising and sharpening their skills, an 80-year-old couple namely Wang Fu along with hsi wife Lee was also playing, when this correspondent went and talk to the couple, they said, they had played ping pong at national levels and were married for over 50 years, but they come to play table tennis regularly and term it is very good for maintaining fitness levels and this age they need to train to remain fit. While delegation also visited gymnastic hall, where young Chinese girls and boys were getting training from top coaches, it was really wonderful to witness such young age kids were involved, that is why Chinese are ruling the sports world, as they are not only investing heavily on youngsters, but also appointed right man for the right job, they had hired former greats to train generation next, unlike of Pakistan, where near and dear ones are obliged and no heed is paid to think about professionalism, while young boys and girls were also busy in volleyball and gymnastic, the acrobatics on display at such young age was really eye-catching and prove the commitment of the Chinese and how much seriously they are taking sports, the huge infrastructure in sports and the hiring of world’s best coaches also clear indication that Chinese are setting their sights on grabbing number one position from USA and it is not far, watching Chinese working so efficiently, it is the need of the hour that Pakistan Sports Board and above all Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) must send top Pakistani players, athletes and above all coaches to China thorough exchange programmes, as Pakistan is lacking far behind and that is just because of non-professionalism, we have what it takes to excel at the top, Pakistan is blessed with immense amount of raw talent, the only need is to hire right man for the right job and provide opportunities to the deserving athletes To make the visit memorable one a basketball match was also played between Sadiq Public School Bahawalpur students, who are part of the delegation and Chinese youth basketball team, it was a treat to watch, it was on paper no match, as who would have thought that school-going students could stand any outside chance against the professional players, but Sadiq Public School basketball team skipper Basit Hassan, who was awesome and displayed world class skills of basketball, while he was ably supported by Ria Abbas and Qamar Abbas, as Sadiq Public School team outclassed Chinese Youth team 60-34, while Hamood Rehman from Pakistan Netball team also played superbly for the winning team, it was 20 minutes match, with 10 minutes each half, Sadiq Public School was leading 34-18 by the end of first half, Basit scored 24 baskets in the first half and it was 60-34 as the referee blew the final whistle to signal the end of the match, Basit scored 40 baskets, while Rai Abbas scored 15, Qamar Abbas 10 and Hamood scored 5 baskets, but he played sheet anchor role in defence and ensured visiting team end up on winning note, gifts were also given to Pakistani delegation and Chinese head of university promised to arrange Chinese students, athletes visit to Pakistan very soon, after spending more than 4 hours in University, the delegation left for Pakistan embassy to Beijing, where Pakistan ambassador to China Masood Khalaid a grand reception in honour of Pakistan delegation.
